4. To identify and assess the negative implications of the prosperity gospel on the advancement of God’s kingdom on earth.

1.8. Operational Definition of Terms

 Negative Impact: A negative impact refers to an effect or consequence that is harmful, detrimental, or undesirable. It describes outcomes that have a harmful or adverse influence on a person, community, system, or belief. In the context of this study, the “negative impact” refers to the harmful effects that the prosperity gospel may have on the spiritual, social, and ethical dimensions of the Christian faith and the church’s mission.

  Prosperity Gospel: The prosperity gospel is a religious teaching that claims that faith, positive confessions, and financial donations to a church or religious leader can lead to material wealth, health, and personal success. Often associated with the “Word of Faith” movement, it asserts that financial prosperity, good health, and success are signs of God’s favor and blessings, and that believers can attain these through strong faith, positive declarations, and generous contributions to the church.

  Implication: An implication refers to a possible consequence or result that arises from a particular action, belief, or event.
