The Relationship Between Social mobility and income inequality

The phrase “social mobility” is used to describe a person’s or family’s potential to change their socioeconomic standing. Conversely, income inequality describes how a society’s wealth is unequally distributed among its members.

There are several facets to the link between economic disparity and social mobility. Higher economic disparity is correlated with less opportunity for upward social mobility, according to the literature. To rephrase, it is more challenging for those from lower-income origins to rise up the social ladder in cultures where there is a big difference between the affluent and the poor.

People from lower socioeconomic origins may have less access to opportunities that are critical to their development and success. Furthermore, large income disparity can cause social segregation, which is when people of various socioeconomic backgrounds stop interacting with one another and stop sharing chances for advancement.
