INTRODUCTION
- Background to the Study

These properties are primarily attributed to curcumin, a bioactive compound found in turmeric (Hewlings & Kalman, 2017). Curcumin has been shown to inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6), which play a crucial role in inflammation (Jurenka, 2009).
