REQUIREMENT FOR EFFECTIVE PLANNING

1.Specific Objectives:- The prescribed objectives should be definite and laid down in an order of importance. Keeping in view the urgency of the organization’s problems. More so, objectives should not be too many, but realistic, mutually compatible, flexible, and feasible within the available resources.

2. Fixation of Targets and Priorities:- It is equally important to fix the targets and priorities and further capability of their achievement. In other words, those projects or schemes which are required to be executed first, should be given top priority, and less important projects should have low priority. The programmes of priorities should not be rigid, rather it may be changed according to the requirements of the organization. These targets should be mutually consistent for attaining a given growth rate for the organization.
3. Reliable Statistical Information:- A pre-condition for effective planning is the availability of reliable, adequate and accurate statistical data relevant to various aspects of an organization. Therefore, to obtain the essential statistical data, a survey of the existing and potential resources has to be undertaken.
4. Mobilization of Resources:- The effectiveness of planning is dependent on the proper mobilization of financial resources of the organization.
5. Fair and Efficient Administration:- The administrative machinery with a high degree of honesty and efficiency plays a vital role in the formulation and implementation of plans. In most organizations, there is scarcity of trained and competent administration and technical
   personnel which is the major constraint in the development of organization.
