INTRODUCTION

1.1.        Background to the Study

1.3   Aim and Objectives of the Study

The aim of the study is to examine the Role of Sunday Schools in Church Growth. The specific objectives are:

1. To examine the role of Sunday school in promoting church growth and development.
2. To investigate the impact of Sunday school teachings on the spiritual growth of church members.
3. To assess the effectiveness of Sunday school as a tool for evangelism and outreach.
4. To explore the relationship between Sunday school participation and church membership retention.
5. To identify the challenges faced by Sunday schools in contributing to church growth and development.

1.8. Operational Definition of Terms

Significance: In the context of this study, significance refers to the importance or relevance of a particular subject or topic. It is the measure of the potential impact or value that the study’s findings may have.

Sunday School: Sunday school is a religious education program that is typically offered by Christian churches to children and adults. It usually takes place on Sundays and involves the study of the Bible, Christian principles, and doctrines.

Church Growth: Church growth refers to the increase in the number of church members or attendees. This can be measured in various ways, such as the number of new members, the number of baptisms, or the overall attendance at church services and activities. Church growth is often seen as a sign of a church’s health and vitality.

Church Development: Church development, on the other hand, refers to the process of improving and expanding the church’s infrastructure, programs, and services. This can involve building new facilities, training leaders, creating new ministries, or implementing new strategies for evangelism and discipleship. Church development is about enhancing the church’s capacity to serve its members and its community effectively.
