ABSTRACT

The manual way of responding to emergency situations by authority concern has become a major issues to residents of communities in our localities. Currently, the means of sending message in case emergency is through phone calls and running from one office to another to make or report an emergency. Sometimes the rescue personnel may not be available to  respond on time. This project attempt to solve this issue by developing an automated emergency rescue application that will enable users/people to send distress message and the admin will respond appropriately by attaching a rescue team to that effect. The software was created using PHP and My SQL in the design of frontend and the database respectively. The system was evaluated by users and the efficiency has surpassed the current methods of emergency reporting.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

 

1.1    Background to the Study

With the help of ever-evolving internet technology, we can now stay connected with anyone and from almost any corner of the world. The same widely spread internet network can be utilized to help out people in need of emergency (Craig Rock, 2018). This android-based safety application proposed here aims at raising alerts & sending notifications if anyone is facing any emergency in the form of any threat from someone, health emergency, accidental emergency, etc.

The user can add his important contacts in the system whom he wants to inform in case of emergency. The user can send report through this application in the form of text, indicating an emergency along with other location details. The user can also receive alerts in case they require any help. The users can also receive emergency information around their areas. In this way, this emergency report system can help a group of people stay connected & help each other in case of any emergency in the least time possible.

This Application adds safety to the users by providing them the emergency information of their areas through timely notifications in their system through an Admin portal. Users of Safety can send threat alerts to the admin and the. Admin when receives the threat then addresses the threat of the user which helps users report system to reach for help and also alert its contacts.

1.2    Statement of the Problem

The existing emergency response system faces significant challenges that hinder its effectiveness and efficiency in handling emergencies. These challenges include delayed incident reporting, limited situational awareness, inefficient resource allocation, and inadequate coordination among stakeholders. These problems result in prolonged response times, increased risks to public safety, and potential loss of lives and property. With the system some of these issues will be critical address to improve the overall emergency response capabilities and ensure the swift and effective handling of emergencies.

1.3    Objectives of The Study

The objectives of this project are as follows:-

  1. To design an emergency response system.
  2. To implement and test the Application.
  3. To evaluate the Application.

1.4    Justification of the Study

In this project research, the development of user friendly application in which the users of the application can send distress message and the admin can see and respond appropriately.

It is quickest way to get notified of any emergency notification concerning your area through system notifications. Any form of threat can be sent through the application. It can be sent in the form of an image/video/link or just plain text message informing about the threat.

1.5    Scope and Limitations of The Study

The scope of this project research was to develop an Emergency response system that can send a notification to the application. This project is limited in the following ways:-

Users can send prank alerts of threat through this app. But to address that Admin can mark it as a false alarm. Admin will have to first verify whether it is a false alarm or a real threat which wastes time and effort in case of a false alarm.

Any User can register into the app using fake registration details. An Additional security layer of authentication during registration can be added.
