The study examines the role of the church in reaching out to person’s living with HIV/AIDS in some selected Hospitals in Lagos State. The study is limited to selected Churches in Badagry LGA, Lagos, Nigeria.

1.8. Operational Definition of Terms

Role: The term “role” refers to the function or position that an individual or entity plays in a particular context. It encompasses the responsibilities, actions, and influence that contribute to achieving specific goals or outcomes within a community or organization.

Church: A “church” is a place of worship for Christians, often characterized by communal gatherings, religious services, and various activities aimed at spiritual growth and support. It can also refer to the broader body of Christian believers, encompassing different denominations and traditions.

Reaching Out: “Reaching out” involves actively engaging with individuals or groups, especially those in need, to offer support, assistance, or resources. It emphasizes a proactive approach to connecting with others, often to provide help, information, or a sense of community.

Person: A “person” is an individual human being. In various contexts, the term can also refer to someone with specific characteristics or experiences, emphasizing their humanity and individuality.

Living with HIV/AIDS: “Living with HIV/AIDS” refers to individuals who are infected with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), which can lead to Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) if not treated. This phrase highlights the ongoing experience of managing the condition, including health care, social implications, and emotional challenges associated with living with the virus.
